What’s the story of this milk-white boy — who wasn’t so white when he was first rescued?
It was last winter when Finn started coming around to the food we were leaving out for stray cats in a makeshift shelter in front of my apartment building in Bucharest. He was young and afraid of the other tomcats who bullied and chased him away, but every now and then, he managed to sneak in a few bites of the good, high-quality food. He was skinny and dirty, as if he’d been sleeping under cars or anywhere he could find shelter, and his body was covered in scars — clear signs that he was more often beaten than fighting back.
I promised myself that if he came again one night and I had space to take him in, I would rescue him. The problem was, I already had several rescued cats who don’t always get along with each other. So, at first, Finn stayed in a heated balcony, where he had good food and finally began to wash himself — slowly turning from gray to white again.
He’s still a bit shy, but now he’s vaccinated, dewormed, neutered, and very gentle. He loves people but is still wary of tomcats — though he gets along very well with female cats.
Finn is waiting for you to take him home!
